Sin City

Last weekend Dave and I headed down to Vegas with our friends Trey and Eryn for Dave's 34th bday and Eryn's 30th bday.  We left the babes in the loving care of Mom, Dad, Ben, and Sierra, who as always, did a great job.

We stayed at the MGM Signature in a huge condo that Trey's sister hooked us up with.  Dave had never been to Vegas before, so I knew this was going to be fun.  Thursday night we had a really nice steak dinner and then walked around the strip.  The night ended with Dave and Trey wanting to try their hand at blackjack.  Dave?  Gamble?  I know, I thought it was pretty funny too.  All he kept saying was "I work too hard to lose any of my money."  I thought he might start sweating at the tables.  Actually he did come out ahead though.  Sorry, Trey (he didn't)!

All dressed up and ready to hit the town.

The lions at the MGM are so beautiful (at first I typed in loins...Embarrassing!)
Friday we lounged by the pool and then walked around some more.  This was at Caesar's.

Saturday was more sun at the pool and then dinner at the Venetian.

Dave's brother Mike met us there.  It's always nice for Dave to get to see him.

The Bellagio was decorated for Fall with tons of real flowers.  I wish I could make my house look like this for the seasons.

We had a great time!  It was nice to get to spend Eryn's 30th with her, and Dave and I always enjoy time together.  Let's make it an annual trip!!!

Birthday Bash

Ethan and Addison celebrated their first birthday on the 12th.  We had some friends and family come over for food, cake, and presents.  The kids seemed to have a good time, even though I think it was all a bit overwhelming.  They did really enjoy their cake though!

My Mom gave the kids these hats
Opening presents

Our friends Sean and Cassie brought their son, Ernie.  Addison was so cute with him and gave him lots of kisses.
Ethan and his buddy, Cade
Like I said, they loved the cake.

After the party, the kids got to play with all their new toys.  Fast forward 16 years and I can see Addie doing the same thing in her own car.  And all Ethan wanted to play with was the balloons from the party.  Had we known that we wouldn't have spent so much money on toys.
I can't believe how fast this last year has gone.  I am so grateful for healthy, happy babies who amaze me everyday.  Looking back, I know that I could not have made it through this year without help from all our family and friends.  I would really like to thank all of you for everything.

How cute are we?

I still can't used to the idea that my babies are 1 year old.  Every time I think about how fast this last year has gone, I can't help but tear up.  I just keep thinking that this time last year I was recovering from labor and we were still in the hospital with Ethan.  He was 4 pounds!!!  I look at them now, taking their first steps, signing and saying words,  and just being independent, and I am filled with so much happiness and a little fear.  Fear because I want to be able to freeze time and preserve the way they are right now.  Fear also because there are days that are so amazing and fun and I know that I will never get to relive those again exactly.  But I am also so looking forward to all the new phases that they are heading into.  Everyday is a new and exciting discovery for them, and I get to be apart of that!  Twice!

When Dave and I found out that we were having twins we were both incredibly freaked out.  And even though this first year has been really rough at times, there have so many more ups then downs.  I thank my Heavenly Father EVERYDAY  that he trusted me with these two beautiful spirits.  I am humbled that I get to be their mother.

Family Reunion Pics

I really hope this link works!  When we were in Idaho this summer for my family reunion, we had some professional pictures taken.  Some of you have asked to see them and until I can get the Cd of images, this link should take you to her website so you can see all of them.  They turned out really cute!

Park

Just another fun day at the park.

Child Abuse

Nothing like putting a white trash mullet wig on our kids for our own amusement.  Enjoy!

Bath time

The kids favorite time of day is bath time.  As soon as I bring them upstairs in the evening, they crawl over to the tub as fast as they can, stand up to the sides, and scream and yell till they get put in.  Dave and I usually sit on the side while they play and try to entertain them with whatever comes to mind.  Sometimes we dance in the bathroom to make them laugh, other times we hide behind the door and play peek-a-boo.  It is good family time for us.  Then comes one of MY favorite times of day...bedtime!

This night we had fun styling the kids hair

Guess what Eryn? A new post!!!

So, I know it has been awhile since I have updated our blog.  September was a busy month for us full of fun stuff and lots of not so fun stuff.  Both kids were recently sick and have been teething like crazy.  Ethan now has 6 teeth and Addie has 4.  They also took their first steps this week.  And guess what Addie did on Sunday night?  She said her first words!  Not word, but WORDS.  We were feeding them dinner and she said clear as day "all done."  We couldn't believe it!  I have been doing the baby signs with them and they had yet to really start signing back, but that night she signed "all done" and said it!  She hasn't said it much since then, but today after lunch, she said it again.  It is the cutest little voice.

Dave has been busy as usual with the store and I have been trying to get everything ready for their birthday party this weekend.  That's right, they are turning one!  Yeah for no more formula!

So, here some pics from Septembers events.

Garett celebrated his first birthday in September.  We all got together at a park and had cake and opened gifts.  I can't believe how fast all the kids are growing up!

Dave and I celebrated our 3rd anniversary on the 16th.  My parents took the kids and we went out to dinner on Saturday
night and then met up with our friends, Trey and Eryn, for brunch on Sunday at Skamania Lodge.  Here's to 50 more!

September was beautiful this year.  We didn't make it to the beach at all during the summer, so one of the nice Sundays in September we decided to go.  We went to Cannon Beach which is my favorite beach around here.  We just let the kids crawl around on the sand, play in the water, and enjoy it.

We had a lot of fun!

Then we ended the month, or started October, with Dave's event at the huge marathon expo.  He is always so busy getting ready and working this event.  But the nice thing is that the Portland Marathon is usually the close to Portland's running race season.  So maybe that will mean Dave gets to relax a little.  Probably not.

Now that October is here I am getting so excited for fall and all the holidays.  It is my favorite time of year and can't wait to see how the kids react to all of it!
