Be prepared to pee your pants!

Makes me laugh everytime

My sister-in-law, Melinda, posted this a few months back about her youngest, Sophie, and it makes me crack up everytime I read it!  Enjoy...

So, the other day I was working on the computer in my office (shocking, I know) and Sophie was playing in the backyard. All the rest of the kids were at school. It was early in the morning and pretty chilly out (no, really, it was).

Suddenly I hear the sliding door open and Sophie yelling, "I'm gonna tell Mom!"

What the... ???? Who the heck is she talking to?

Before I can even ask, she marches into my office and in that tattle-tale voice says, "Mom! Duke is smoking!"

Huh?

Me: "What is he doing?"

Sophie: "He's smoking!"

Me: "Is there white smoke coming out of his mouth?"

Sophie: "Yes"

Me: "Is it cold outside?"

Sophie: "Yes"

Me: "Breath looks white when it's cold out. He's not smoking, honey."

At this point she's starting to "get" that Duke isn't going to be in as much trouble as she thought, and so she loses interest in the conversation and asks for a snack.

Well, at least she knows smoking is bad. I think.

Preschool

I can't believe that it is already time, but the kids have started preschool.  It seems too fast to me, but they were really ready to go.  They are enrolled in a 3-day a week 3-hour a day preschool just a few minutes from the house.  Their first day was Wednesday.  Dave had a meeting that he had to be at, so I had to take them by myself!  I don't think that he quite understood that I needed him there not for the kids, but for me.  It was harder than I thought.

He took them a week or so ago to pick out their own backpacks for school, and that to them is the best part of school.  They LOVE to put all their stuff in them and wear them all the way to school and home.  It's so cute.  Addie has a Dora backpack and Ethan's is (of course) Buzz Lightyear.

Just getting out of the car and heading inside.

Ethan is showing off his backpack to his buddy, Jackson.
Waking in
She was so excited.  She didn't even saw Goodbye to me, she just bolted in the room and started playing with the toys.
He was a little bit more nervous than his sis.
They watched everyone for a minute or two...
and then jumped right in.
Now the only picture that is missing is me crying my eyes out as I drove home.  I'm not ready to have my babies in school yet!

New Hairdo!

Addie's new preschool cut

Before:

After:

She will actually let me style it now.  She sits on my counter top while I blow dry it and round brush it.  It is really cute and she loves it.  She tells me everyday "I have pretty hair now, Mom."

Addie's Big Girl Room

I have been working on this for sometime.  It isn't totally finished, but here are some pics of what is done.

Just a reminder that this is what it looked like before I started:

Here's how it is coming together now:

A nice gray paint all over the walls (that I bought as a mistint at Miller for $20).  A $50 flea market bed, some new bedding, crown moulding, and lots of Goodwill accessories.

The desk I found at Goodwill for $30.  It first looked like this:

But, after a little love, it now looks a little better:

I also redid the chair that now goes with the desk.  Also a Goodwill find at $14.

How ugly is that?  I reupholstered the cushion, painted it, and did a little distressing.

And here is Addie's first night sleeping in her new bed.

How cute is that?

Colorado

Last month we spent a week in Colorado with some of Dave's family.  We had a great time.  Ethan and Addie loved getting to see their grandparents and cousins, Tati and Kyle.  We spent one day out on the Pueblo Reservoir on a pontoon boat, which was perfect in the 90 degree weather.   I didn't take as many pictures as I had planned, but here are some of the ones I got.
