Hoops

This Father's Day was so fun on all levels.  We had my Dad over for a great dinner and got to spend some quality time with him.  My little bro, Ben, and his wife came over too.  And we got to give Dave an amazing Father's Day gift.  A basketball hoop.  I really outdid myself this year.

He and our neighbor Trey have been talking about wanting one for our cul-de-sac for awhile now.  So, Eryn and I decided that this was the year that they deserved to get it!
Waiting for Daddy to come home from his trip and see it!  We had it set up in the driveway so that as soon as he drove up, he couldn't miss it.
The whole neighborhood came out to play.

I think they like it.

Good Men

I am surrounded by good men.  I have an amazing father (the best), three great brothers who have all turned out to be great men, and one wonderful husband and dad to my children.  I know how lucky I am to have all of this and even though it is a little late, I want to recognize these men on Father's Day.

My Dad.

What do you say about a man like him?  He is the most generous, most compassionate, most gentle guy I know.  He is the kind of guy who once you meet him, you love him.  I always knew growing up that I had been blessed with a very special family, and my Dad is the force behind all that love (along with my lovely Mom).  He is just the kind of guy who really would do ANYTHING for ANYONE.  He is the definition of character.
I love him very much and am so lucky to have him as my father and now as a grandfather to my children.  Thank you for all that you do for me and my family.

And then there's this guy!
Dave is such an amazing father that it is hard to put into words.  He is a lot like my Dad to me.  Another guy who once you know him, you love him (and I realize how rare a quality this can be.  I'm not even sure that I would fall into this category).  He is an extremely hard worker (sometimes to a default), good friend, but most importantly, good family man.  He lights up when he sees his kids.  I don't know anyone else who takes such joy from being on the floor playing with blocks for hours.  He doesn't mind letting others see him be silly and funny, just as long as he gets a laugh out of the kids.  He can be extremely busy with all the demands on him and his job, but when those two kids want him, he drops everything.  He is so selfless with them.  He truly loves them with all his heart and I know will do anything to be there for them whenever they need him.  We are all so lucky to have you, honey.  We love you!

Can't eat, must sleep!

I just have to share how cute my little lady munchkin is.  After running some errands today, we got home a little late for nap time.  I got the kids in the house, into their highchairs, whipped up a quick lunch and proceeded to put some dishes into the dishwasher.  All I did was bend down to put in the dishes, and in that 2 second time frame, Addison had fallen to sleep face down in her lunch!  So cute!  I just love that little princess.

Polka Dots

We have had the most beautiful weather the last few weeks.  80 degrees every day!  There is just nothing like the Pacific Northwest when it is sunny and warm out.  Needless to say, me and the kiddos have been getting outside as much as possible.  We head to the park, the lake, or sometimes just put the pool out in the front yard and let them run around.  Addie's not much for the freezing water in the pool (that I fill from the hose), but she will strut around in her polka dot bathing suit all day if I let her.  I think she knows that we LOVE seeing her in her suit, big belly and all!

She can strut around all she wants right now, it's when she's 16 in a bathing suit that freaks me out!
