The Olympic Trials for track and field came to Eugene this last month, so of course, we had to go. Dave bought the tickets last year as soon as they went on sale. He made it down the last weekend of the events and I met up with him on Friday night to go see Saturday's races. We got to see one of his old teammates/friend, Casey Malone, take 3rd in the discus which means he is going to Beijing. We also got to see the 1500 meter race which was what Dave raced when he was in college. You could tell he was having the time of his life. I was really glad that we got to go.
Oh, and just to brag a little about my very talented husband, the guy who took first in the 1500 had a slower time than Dave's PR in the same event! I forget sometimes what a great runner he is and what great success he had while competing. He doesn't like to brag about himself, so I will.

This is Casey Malone who made it to the Olympics in the discus throw. It was neat to be able to see him.
So, after someone throws their discus and the distance is measured, they have these kids send out a new, clean discus to the next athlete. And they get it to them by remote control car. So here are these two kids, just sitting on chairs on the field, driving the cars. I thought that it was pretty funny.

Good post. I'm glad you guys got to go and that Dave got to live the glory days again. You guys have a lot of talent over there in that house--wonder what's in store for the kids!
